The number #1 thing they wanted was space to grow their own veggies.

I ask myself do I have something green, veggie or fruit and try to eat that first. 

I do buy a lot of organic dairy, meat and some veggies. 

The part about your husbands blog caught my attention as I am going to get off my lazy behind and try growing some veggies!

not sure if this can be done these days.. but i seem to recall that you could master meter cable TV or landlines. and make a spiff.. like hotels used to do with landlines.. little off topic  what else is new LOL.but i have a 89 lot new home construction project in Oregon.. 500 to 550k product. and we have a one acre open space kind of in the middle of it.. city does not want to maintain it and so we will put it in the HOA so i was thinking of what I could do with that property short of the obvious play structure.but one thing came to mind and maybe this works in apartments better really is a community garden were your tenants can grow there own little patch of fresh veggies.. 

(I had one of those) These same tenants grow lovely veggies in summer, which I also enjoy.

I purchased a $100 veggie/cracker/cheese tray both times and people ordered their own drinks and some people order meals.

We live in a house on some acreage (paying $520/mo on a 20 year mortgage), raising chickens and planting veggies for our food.
