I am leaning towards investing in the area where I will be relocating to.

Additionally, my husband’s job might be relocating to Columbus, so I’ve been looking into houses there and considering house hacking as an option.This will be my first home purchase, so I’m likely going to use an FHA loan.

Hello Bigger Pockets Community,My sister is considering renting her 3bed/2bath home in Sacramento CA and relocating to WA state.

BUT even then, the contract is valid, it just violated Portland regulations and the owner would owe the tenant the local Relocation Fee (penalty, which is steep). 

Moving forward in my  commercial leases I will now include language making the placement of thermostats the landlords decision with additional language prohibiting the relocation. 

We still don't need the capital, but may for primary home down payment in in the future (after the next relocation!).

Perhaps....but   the person relocating to any given market and who has to make a purchase in a finite period of time is generally the least likely candidate to get a great deal on the purchase, meaning the appreciation is even more important.
