(Yes it still happens, but it is a lease violation, and we have a solid leg to stand on should we need to pursue eviction or collections later.)

I could feasibly pursue multiple deals and if I find one in an area I’d like to live once I move back to the US, I would like the option of renting it out while still living abroad but being able to move in and refi to a better deal with an owner-occupier loan.   

I followed all the steps RADD required for withdrawal and I can't get my money back.

Step 1: Ensure you can get financing (is it a cash purchase or will you need a loan). 

Their are a few podcasts on seller financing and note investing I think those would teach you a-lot if this is really something you want to pursue.

I think that many people are not equipped to handle all of these steps.

@Lina TruongStarting with mid-term rentals (MTRs) can feel daunting, but breaking it into steps makes it manageable.

- If so, 1031 into something bigger and easier to manage and then when you pass, the inheritor receives your property(s) at a stepped up basis - subject to Inheritance Tax limits.Otherwise, sell one every 1-5 years when you need the cash, so you can plan expenses to offset capital gains.

So I didn’t pursue it any further.A asked around on other options.
