Why depressing, dirty old, beat Daytona?   

It ties into your great grandfather’s troubles during the 1932 depression; your grand parents ability to purchase a home in 1953 for $100 down with a VA loan, and your own psychological well being at having to have a percentage of your income going to pay debt each month.However, unless debt is so debilitating to you that it keeps you up at night and inhibits your ability to make rational decisions, the decision to pay off debt early is merely a function of numbers.  

Sreit sold a portfolio of single-family rental homes to Dallas-based Invitation Homes for $650 million, including debt.But more recently, the fund has slowed sales because of depressed prices.

So far they have been incredibly inspiring and informative (if not at times a little depressing, due to the example prices being so ridiculously low compared to the actual prices in my area!

However, $750/mo rent for a 2BR unit is exceptionally cheap, so it could be in a bad or depressed area, so that price may not be so cheap.

It's called a "Depression Lake" and my daughter asked why it's called that, what it means. 

A few years ago, I owned some rental properties in Holyoke, Mass. and evicting tenants was such a huge nightmare I sold the properties after owning them for more than 40 years and the selling price was depressing when compared to the purchase price and slow appreciation over the 40+ years.

Now it is a more normal market or even a bit depressed as we are arguably in recession.

I own a half dozen residential rentals, but with high prices lately decided to move into commercial real estate for the first time, which seems to be a much more depressed market at the moment.  

Danville is a rough market, very economically depressed.
