It's a 3 bedroom house and we plan to use technology such as a smart lock, WIFI exterior cameras, and a smart thermostat.

First consider why you are putting in cameras?

I would make sure to have a camera system outside if you have any worries about theft, but I personally think you need at least one exterior photo. 

And as John said, have as many remote/wifi controls like locks, thermostats, garage door openers, sprinkler controllers (I don't have cameras, but many do).

I think I will take both of these directives and try to find a happy medium.As far as photos and advertising, I'm going to make some tweaks to the ad, and I have many friends who are in film who could hook me up with some better photos, or at least the camera equipment I need to do it myself.I have a showing tomorrow, and in the meantime I'll work on a plan for my next move and will post an update as things progress.Thanks again! 

You need to stay strong physically and mentally, and I sincerely hope you will figure a way out.If the property is located in a not very safe area, at least try to install some security camera system that works when you are not there.

I hope you reported it to the police, if not, you should file a police report and also install cameras because there's an influx of squatter's taking over people's properties recently. 

Cameras showed it was the pest control person.  

I like to use my computer to upload and organize my receipts typically, but that is because I typically have "scanned" receipts to my google drive from my phone camera. 

From our experience best practice has always been to have exterior cameras as well as smart locks.
