Hi ChrisAlthough the flips and makeovers on TV seem to center around design, for a large part, that's probably not what will drive most of your decisions in real life. 

When watching TV, listening to a podcast or reading a blog always look at the opinions being given through the lens of the interviewee's experience and how their experience most likely conditioned them.

Typed up letters on a Microsoft using Mail-Merge and simply signed my name at the bottom of each (I do this while watching TV or talking to my wife at night or listening to a podcast) and physically wrote the address on each envelope myself (also while doing something else constructive...or not so constructive) and sent out 300 letters.

From cell phones, we deem as being essential to life, cable TV and yes the exorbitant cost of designer coffee when a regular coffee at a diner serves the same purpose at 1/3 the cost.

I don't like people showing up at my house when I am in the middle of dinner with family, half dressed watching TV, in the middle of a long phone conversation, helping the kids with their homework or almost done cutting the grass.
