Unless they have F-1 status as did the Cdn girl we rented to.

The exception (criminal cases don't count) may or may not be interpreted to cover the accuser(the landlord) in your jurisdiction.

This way, you are not accusing anyone of anything, but lets them know that people are watching.

The last thing you want to do is accuse one of your employees, without a shred of evidence, as a couple of posters suggest.  

Just like with you... my landlord was cool in person (even inviting my boyfriend and I over for games and fights etc.) but in the end he hid behind a piece of paper like a girl just for a measly few hundred bucks.

That story about the girl with her internet not working is exactly what I am afraid of :) I go crazy when my internet isn't working, and I loathe dealing with my internet provider.

Unfortunately, he decides you're lying to him, calls CPS, police, etc, and accuses you of child abuse.  

The pre-screen idea is very good...you can make decisions about tenant quality without the tenant being able to accuse you of violating Anti-discrimination/Fair Housing rules.

<g>There has been a string of things proceeding along those lines but I really do like the girls who run this PM company and they seem to mostly produce solid tenants for me.
