The new tenant found pet hair (dog), and their child was allergic - so they requested we replace the carpet (or deep clean). 

You can even pay a spouse or child to fund a retirement account etc. 

Or you get someone who wants to pre-pay rent for, say, their college kid or special needs adult child.

@Lewis Clarke - check with your local housing laws, many communities have rules regarding this... for instance, in OKC, you are limited to two persons per bedroom, although if a family has a child after occupying the house that is allowed :-).

She made no mention of child support on her rental application and I don't see any support orders in the public records.

If I let it slide I would have been putting the three other families in the building in danger as well as the infant child.  

What can top a bunch of inbred, drunk and drug addicted child abusers who like to run naked in the rain down a busy city street?

I am only left with child support.

It enables the elderly to turn over ownership of a property to a child but not be thrown out if the child gets in fiancial trouble, becomes divorced etc.
