Do you have a particular street? 

when I started my project in Oregon I was across the street from Lennar ( production) I knew I could not compete I cant even build the homes for as cheap as they are selling them for.. so I went to Semi custom and my prices are 100 to 250k higher per house for the same sq ft.. and we have just about sold out..

One street over is another STR so it is happening. 

I am also finding that there are all sorts of trash in the gutter in the street in front of the property.
