You usually need to shim them before putting counters on, you must have knobs (there's no option), and they don't look as nice.I have seen people use the cabinets from Ikea, but I haven't seen any that I like.

If it were mine, when it's time for a new roof, I would look into having ALL of the bad boards removed and replaced by ones taken from only one side of the roof, to leave a big hole of missing boards on one side only, and the other side make it builder-new.Because the old lumber is larger than the new lumber (unless it is new lumber sized or could be shimmed up to surrounding height.I would then plywood the side I took the lumber from completely, so as to have one part plywood and one part boards.That MIGHT save money vs a complete tear off.Why throw away the good boards.Also I would assume the rest of the house might have some bad lumber in it.

Demonstrate that you are willing to live beneath your income so as to accumulate some.

Since you cannot reasonably tile under the cabinets, the shim under the tops is a great option.

But I'm looking for a general purpose handyman who can do basic things (dryer vent installation, moisture barrier repair in crawlspaces, shimming warped doors, etc).

Though most of the properties were built over full basements, some were built with only a partial basement or had additions put on without full basements beneath (quite common).

The surface beneath the current floors is a concrete slab that looks like used glue to hold the parquet tiles down.
