Instead of going in front of the judge, the owner insisted on going to peer mediation and working out a deal.

If they show up you will meet with a mediator who will try to work out resolution at which time you should state you do not want to work anything out.

You have to Pay for mediation between you and the tenant.

I think it could be a little condescending to act as a mediator for adults.

I had to re mediate a house for lead, and there was a type of paint the contractor used.

There were many times that I had to act as mediator between roommates and help them work out their differences.  

To be clear, I can come up with a long list of reasons why mediation might not be applicable or is not effective in the landlord tenant context.

There may be a mediation clause in your contract but you'll be paying (or splitting) a hefty bill for a former judge (or someone similar) to sit and hear everyone out on an hourly rate.

I don't get it. and how would you have even known about any of this so called mortgage fraud who would have told you all these details that only the seller would know.if you like the house close if it cost a few grand more so what... crap happens.. also just for those who are not in Oregon if you signed a RMLS purchase contract you have already agreed to mediation followed by arbitration.. you can try the lawyer route but a waste of money on something like this.filing a complaint at the RE department is free.mediation will cost you 2 to 3k up front and you don't get those fee's back if you win.. this keeps folks from like this tying up the courts over very small dollars.
