Don't spend time and energy on a strategy that is simply inferior.

I looked at all the RTA cabinet sellers around me, but I actually thought their quality was inferior to IKEA's cabinets.

They feel like I can't speak English and am suddenly inferior.  

I'm not in any way saying I think real estate returns will be superior to (or for that matter, inferior to) equity returns going forward.
