It was a nightmare for about a week, as two of these were for Airbnb's I manage and I had to run out to pour hot water on the units to get the ice melted. the Mfr tried to tell me this shouldn't be happening and sent me a replacement part for the thermostat that detects when it needs to go into defrost, but I think the Mr.

The rationale for considering the Nest Protect is the ability to be notified on my cell phone when an alarm is triggered, the ability to pinpoint exactly which alarm went off (location and whether it was smoke or CO), the ability for the alarm to turn off the forced air furnace (already has a smart thermostat) when it detects smoke or CO, and the ability to turn off the alarm from my cell phone once I know it's all clear.I don't currently get many nuisance alarm complaints at this tri-plex.

Hi @Joe Mazur - please don't select your inspectors because of price ... this is not the time to try and save a couple hundred bucks.The specific property and location can influence which inspections you'll want to consider, but, in general, here's what I'd be thinking about (along with the inspectors I used on my own purchase in Cary):general home inspection (Eric Coates - Detailed Home Inspections)pest (Neuse Termite and Pest)roof (Roofwerks)radon (Advanced Radon Detection Services)I would have a different person do each of these.

I believe I also detected at least a hint of actual smoker smell underneath.I'm so bummed out because everthing leading up to that day was going great, but as we were looking at the house, I couldn't think of anything else but the fact that the seller was a smoker.I'm now looking at options for smoker remediation, such as scrubbing the hard floors with vinegar, replacing carpet, painting all walls, cleaning or replacing AC duct work, ozone machine, etc.

I also had no choice as I live 250 miles from the property in question.My main goal here is present my scenario so you guys can spot anything that may look "abnormal" so I can learn few tricks in detecting red flags.For example, the questions that Jim asked didn't crossed my mind, which, is the price/risk of being a newbie.
