Is it possible to build an outdoor kitchen (like an outdoor sink with a grill for example) and have it "not count" as a kitchen?

Another options is to encourage the use of the outdoor space. 

People also think of Nebraska as flat plains, but over there by the Iowa border there is a fair amount of topography and outdoor recreation to do.

With the pandemic and the change to remote work we took the opportunity to move to Burlington, as it combines great access to the outdoors with a nice walkable city center and generally good vibes. 

That can largely be avoided by planning ahead to keep it separate as possible,  and submeter or mitigate in other ways when not possible;  like apparently these days you can get programmable thermostats with a 'administrator' mode that will allow you to set a maximum temperature in case you end up sharing with a resident who likes to keep the house at 80 degrees with electric baseboard heat.   

There is a lot of out door activities, mountains, lakes, rivers you name it.
