Outside of reading set for life I don't really have any exposure to real estate or house hacking. 

I have gotten a lot out of listening to the podcasts while I drive, and then I often order the business or real estate book that the guests recommend. 

Even if a software is free or cheap, it's the time investment getting things set up and then tweaking it for the first few months that is the real "spend".

I owned real estate before but lost it all in the GFC. 

Hello BP community, My husband and I have been saving and are finally ready to jump into the real estate business.

If I do buy a house I'll probably be close to house poor with no extra money and probably won't have an opportunity to invest in real estate for a while since most of my money would be tied to my house/townhome/condo.

@Tony Schmucker if it were me, it would totally depned on a ton of differing factors that you may not be measuring (some outside of investment real estate).
