Personal preference - in school I had a professor who basically beat it into us that any money invested should be returned in 7 years for a good investment.

On another topic here at BP, there has been discussion of the Professor Robert Shiller comment that when discounted for inflation, real estate value in real dollars is the same as 100 years ago.Whether or not that is absolutely true or not, shouldn't capital gains tax be indexed for inflation so that an investor did not have to pay tax on the increase dollars of an investment that is due to inflation.And secondly, wouldn't that be the truly fair approach, so that an investor is not taxed on inflation?

I also know MaCalester College, William Michell Law school are close-by (within 10mins) so depending on how strongly your lease and property management is, I think you will do just fine.So what I'm saying is you may be able to get Professors, College Staff or FT grad school hopefully - avoiding discrimination obviously.I also lived in a duplex in NE Mpls (Columbia Heights) and it was quiet (long winter - kids came out in summer to play on the quiet streets) but very close to Central Ave.
