However, ensure you have a solid repayment plan to avoid over-leveraging your home.Focus on long-term rentals that generate steady cash flow and offer tax advantages, such as depreciation and deductible expenses.

I think it’s a more recent consideration (maybe in the past decade or so based on my digging / anecdotal feedback) and perhaps some of you that have been in the business longer and simply renewing old policies may be getting a pass.  

Once you are familiar properly evaluating a deal and identifying most of the potential obstacles, it becomes fairly straightforward and your profit margins go up considerably.
