A property can be active, which means you can take the losses against other active income, even a W2 or business income if you are the owner/occupant (think Dentist, manufacturer, car dealership, restaurant, etc.).

I am a Washington state licensed dentist in my later 50's.

I have friends who are PA's, dentists, business owners and they are in the same situations right now - albeit on a grander scale-but not being able to pay your rent/mortgage or have to sell your home if it is $500 or $5 million is a scary place and a bit of compassion may be the difference between a renter who stays for years or a renter who eventually is evicted and leaves the home in poor condition.I received all of my rents for April and May.

Hi Kenny,It looks like a happening place.It looks like a true positive for the city.I have a question though, you (like many) mention "Young Professionals".Professional what; dentists under 30 years old, just graduated attorneys, what specifically makes a "young person"  a Professional for something like this (???)

I probably have a slightly better understanding of the risk in choosing a syndication than I do of choosing my CPA, Doctor or Dentist.

They would know if the area where your house is located has aggressive enforcement of permitting.Much like getting a dentist's advice about your hip replacement surgery.
