My capital is tied up in that home and I have a vacant property sitting there not being used and the demand for short term rentals decently high in this city, a concept tested by other 1bed/1bath small cottages.

I am interested in purchasing this property and putting a MIL cottage on it for my parents. 

They work great, are quick and inexpensive install, and are really good for our market where we often renovate little beach cottages and don’t want to run ductwork.

I tried to get one installed in a cottage conversion we are doing now and the plumber advised us not to do it.

Especially with a long term lease you cannot go wrong.But you don't have tater tots and chili cheese dogs...

I found a property that has 4 buildings (1 is a 2 unit, 2 cottages, and 1 storage garage), that has been grandfathered into this allowance.
