By 8 pm I had an upset text message from the occupant with a picture of the 3 day notice, asking if it was really necessary to post it, since she had already given me a date when the rest of the rent would be paid (which conveniently falls inside of the 3 day notice period). 

Let the other person be the only beoch in the room, so that it's easy to determine the other person must be at fault.I must always buy time when I'm upset.

You may be upset that you paid his mortgage but it was your choice to rent and you seemed to have enjoyed the low rent for a very long time because of rent control.

No one wants to make the owner of the home upset. :-)I learned to always ask how much stuff they have.

So are you saying a stupid person is able to make you this upset?

You seem very upset about how you've been treated by this tenant, which I totally understand. 

By doing otherwise, you risk fines and/or jail time.If you find that shocking or upsetting, consult a reputable real estate attorney and ask for their input.
