Just as you could "repair" walls that have 100 Gigantic holes by placing cheap paneling over the holes, you could also repair it correctly with taped, textured and painted drywall/sheetrock.

My idea being, it creates more of an attachment to a rental because the tenant may have a long term committment to be there to plant, care or harvest there garden.
