I'd love to network and meet local investors on the ground, especially if you're interested in larger multifamily!

One thing you can also do with your studies is network, network, network.

I am too looking to network with people in our area.

Exception being when a residential real estate agent {accidentally} catches a small - medium multiunit and,  not having a suitable network of buyers, does what they know and lists it on MLS.You will be better served finding a driven and connected commercial broker in your areas of interest and get yourself on their call list.

Im looking to start networking with other Frederick/Urbana/Bethesda real estate investors.

We currently own four and are looking to add to our portfolio.We are excited to share what we have learned and what we are still learning, as well as network.

I stumbled upon this site and figured I could gain a wealth of knowledge from like minded people and hopefully meet and network as well. 

So I would suggest getting involved with local real estate Meetup groups and real estate clubs for networking, maybe obtain a real estate license in your area and keep using Bigger Pockets for resources.
