Note though, that the data can be wildly out of date, and you have to look carefully at the "comps" being used, since some of them are likely in other areas of town, and may not be representative of rates in the area you're looking to buy.

It seems that with how slowly land seems to sell, there wouldn't be any of the "wild west hunt" for good investment property and instead could be carefully calculated for lowest construction cost, highest durability/energy efficiency, etc. making sure it is a good solid asset with very low maintenance.
