The OP did not mention the sticker said all this, and HUD is frequently mentioned on all types of default notices " reach out to a HUD approved counseling agency, blah blah" .

I’m suggesting that while OP will be limited on max property tax deductions, OP will get to include mortgage interest deductions - thus should likely use Itemized instead of Standard deductions.
