I've been wanting to invest in real estate since I was in my teens (I had odd interests as an early teen) and have been waiting to be able to buy due to owning a small business and needing to qualify for a loan.The home was purchased for $177000 and needs around $10k worth of work.

High school drop-out that started stealing cars in East Oakland with a fake gun while still a teen (only Bay Area locals, or at least people from California, will appreciate stealing cars with a fake gun in East Oakland 5+ years ago...).Eventually ran his own chop shop with over a dozen employees.Naturally, he was caught and then went to prison. 

Myself and my clients see ROI's in the mid-teens every year.

I looked into them on this forum and they seem much move favorable (higher returns in the low teens, relatively hands off even if they turn NPN).

If you're netting ~$300/mo on ~$25K equity, your return is somewhere in the mid-teens. 

That 16.6% could easily turn into low teens.  

However, if you're a late teens to mid 50s couple -- peak traveling ages mind you -- and there is a small % you may conceive, even if unplanned, then many should and/or would think twice going tropical. 

I manage hedge funds and private investors and we are seeing ROI in the "teens" on a consistent basis!
