Also, the built in obsolescence which creates a residual income stream for Intuit is a little bit off-putting for a small business person.

No, I used the Intuit Payment Network, up until a few months ago when they discontinued the service and forced you to subscribe to their Quickbooks program to be able to continue receiving payments from tenants.I'm currently using the Chase QuickPay service which is free and works fine for what I need which is just to receive the monthly rent payments.

And my accountant gets his annual updates from Intuit because his customers might be on any version, including the latest.I would look for a copy of QB just prior to the release of the next year's version (you'll have to check when that might be, but somebody in the Intuit marketing or support could let you know when that will be).

I just ordered the desktop edition for Mac, which I had to get on eBay because Intuit discontinued the Mac desktop version in 2016.
