I would think newspaper would be a frustrating underlayment from a labour perspective when you can get rolls of Kraft/Rosin paper (hardwood) or foam/vapour barrier underlay (laminate) which are cheap and go down quickly.In floor pictured, were the seams deliberately lined-up?

They sell ads to agents, loan officers, etc. and one of the ways they do this is to deliberately delay their data, primarily by showing a listed property for sale, that was sold and closed months ago.
