First time investor trying to figure things out; heart says no, but my head says I should...Wish we had a polling option on the forum...

This discussion is off the topic of REI, but DGI is pretty cool, actually, and I find it makes a good bit of sense to landlords since the dividends are akin to rental cash flow, and there are several other parallels as well ... my heart is still with my local rentals, but it is a decent place to diversify IMO and park extra money assuming you are ok with potentially parking it longer term in case a bear market hits.

It's heart breaking to see mountains for trash laying outside every house in a neighborhood.  

I have a family member who is near and dear to my heart, and they've come to me for advice and I unfortunately don't have enough knowledge to point them in the right direction. 

I actually have a hard time even going East of University - with a couple of notable exceptions (SW corner of South Overton and the very west side of Heart of Lubbock.  

Maybe we are too many generations removed form cold hearted landlords kicking families out in the middle of night with a couple of bully-boys with clubs. 

It's not for the faint of heart. 

They then explain to me their motivation for moving, they have a limited amount of time, and that there hasn't been much interest in the house.As an agent that believes whole-heartedly that it is my job to look out for my clients best interests.
