And I can see what you and @Theresa Harris are saying, the houses are being swapped with people wanting their chance at living near a big city, I guess I just don't see it as a sustainable trend.

It's not a bad idea to have an STR as an investment as it if it does well for cashflow and it could also keep your costs low if you decide to home swap in the future when you travel but I haven't fully looked into this option yet.We did look at Hawaii since we go there at least every 2 years being on the west coast however, you'll need to consider if being on an island is for you. 

Then one of the Bldg Inspectors 'listed' lic plumbers for water & sometimes NG, same for lic electricians for the separation of power(s) (couldn't resist) & then once it's all done ESOP's for the power meter/line swap need to be inspected.Costs will be high for all unless you can do most of yourself like we can.

The previous owner would convert a single MH pad to 2-3 RV pads, swapping out a single pad rent of $280 for 2-3 pads at $450-$500 each (including utilities).

I have my own excel model on these in which I can pull the last three days of treasuries and I use for determining proceeds from selling an investment, refinancing, or doing an asset swap to mitigate the yield maintenance fee.

Keep it for now because swapping investments in the middle of a storm may be tricky.
