Between plans, and engineering, and geotechnical, and a survey, AND permit fees ect ect groundup you could spend 15k easily. 

County should have the plans and maybe the homeowner but doubtful.Worst case bring in an engineer and they can tell if it’s load bearing or it load bearing.

This immediately led us down the rabbit hole of needing engineered plans, a ton of additional permitting, and having to bring the entire renovation up to 2022 building code with the city inspectors checking every little detail on a 95 year old house. $40,000 unexpected dollars  later, we had new windows (worst decision ever!!

I found that a small percentage of people asked for a cost breakdown, usually engineers or CEO's, type A people or people who "know someone with construction experience who is helping them decide".

Humans oftentimes have tendencies to have a vision, and try to engineer and know everything about it BEFORE they take action.

However this may conflict w/ the Skill Bridge program that I am doing in the last 6 months of my contract which stipulates that I will be separating afterwards.Note: Skill Bridge is a technical program that helps to transition service members into the civilian employment world by providing trainings for skills such as my program for Software Engineering.
