George, your other option would be to establish a Self-directed IRA  (anyone can do it, you don't need to qualify for it).

@George Blower, I will obviously speak to a 401(K) specialist before proceeding with any of this.  

Couple of tips @George Moehlenhoff1) Avoid gurus, they sell stuff you can research for free and then upsell ridiculous programs2) Doing JV when you're starting out with a local wholesaler that you meet at your local REIA where you share your profits and get some real life pointers is a great way to gain the experience3) If 2 doesn't work, you can always try negotiating by calling and practicing with Craigslist homes.

@George Blower @David Fernandez  That's true, and I have invested my IRA in real estate but it still is a horrible deal since I can't use any of the money I earn until 65.
