'Dollar Crisis, Consequences and Cures' by Richard Duncan is a WONDERFUL read that tells that we will have a Housing Slump (the book was written in 2001 and revised around 2003 to include remedies), banks losing their confidence on consumers, consumers being savers than spenders leading to Deflation around 2010, how other countries will lose confidence in our Country (as this being the customer for other countries in the world) and how we can get back in business if certain remedies are initiated by the government(s) all over the world...CheersRam

Narcotics cops would love to get good intel without having to do a long-term surveillance.Also, if you notify the landlord and they fail to take steps to remediate, you may be able to sue them as a nuisance property, depending of course on local laws.

I won't get into anything that needs a new foundation, significant structural element repair/replace (rotted joists, collapsing walls), full-bore electrical rewiring, or has other issues that cannot be easily remedied - shared driveways without dedicated easements, located next to a housing project or landfill, etc.
