I have used State Farm in the past and was happy.An insurance company that is going to offer you umbrella insurance may require you to have your other policies with the same firm.

@Jon Holdman , I heard somewhere that Umbrella liability Insurance won't cover your business, Only personal.

Most people on BP recommend a large umbrella policy in the 1 to 2 million range to protect against potential litigation.

So one choice would be to have an umbrella policy that pays out in the case of a judgment.

You can also purchase a commercial umbrella for additional coverage.

We have had a $1 million umbrella policy for many years along with $300k liability on each property and I am trying to decide if that is enough coverage to make me feel comfortable or if I should bump it higher. 

I do not have an LLC set up, but rather elected to get an umbrella policy when I started out.

Do you also add an umbrella liability to it?

As we had extensive separate investments in real estate and a umbrella policy after purchase we  found out that we were unable to cover the property under the umbrella policy as it was co-owned.
