I am a licensed real estate broker in CA for 25 years, have closed over 5,000 transactions, own a real estate company, own a mortgage company and have a resume in the private money world that is too lengthy to list here.  

I am a Nuclear Medicine student with a flare for real estate investment in all aspects.

As far as their mortgage is concerned, will the banks permit the homeowner to tack on those defaulting months to the back end of their mortgage term so long as payments resume in full going forward?

I think that (absent a Nuclear War) these cycles are somewhat predictable and, by following inventory, one can "see it coming".

I am close to Autistic meltdown at this point, though, so I am going to post, take 10 minutes, and then resume. 

Attend local REI meetings and start networking, with your resume I am sure you can produce a connection that will give you an opportunity in a new RE related field.
