In Chicago as I understand (chip in Chicagoites if I have it wrong) it you can get in trouble for even having the payments in the same account, and can get hit for fairly large damages even just refunding out of the same checking account or not paying an interest payment out of a separate account.

If I lived in an apartment in Queens in New York City or in half a duplex in Pacifica, California, would I have a few thousand bucks invested in tools to fix houses and spend my day like today, where I worked on refinishing the oak strip floor of a bedroom and took a break to go to a tenant's house to change out a showerhead?

I just wanted to chip in a little piece of advice to help with this kind of search.

A blue chip dividend growth stock say Proctor and Gamble will have a lower PE ratio, say 15, that might be the equivalent of slow steady appreciation, but no real price appreciation.

Personal investments, the Roth IRAs for each of them, and anything else can be tapped to pay the cost before medicaid will chip in.
