Once you have 4 or 7 transactions under your belt, then and only then should this be a tree you bark up.

They now have 3 busted up old cars in the driveway and the pit bull in the front yard that barks all the time. 

Any dog that gets out or barks at all hours of the day and night is going to very rapidly be your headache one way or another. 

Should I even bark up the license tree or just network at my local REIA and find someone to take me under their wing with wholesaling or something to help generate some capital and experience?

Now, If the tenants are barking threats now, It will only get worse later.

Because of the slow initial process, I knew which contractors were taking me for a ride, the time span to do things, the details associated with it, what can go wrong (and things will once in a while) because of how slow and careful I was with my first few rehabs and I didn't have some "know it all" barking out instructions that were wrong half the time.

Roosters too - the amount of noise they make is no different than any one of my neighbor's barking dogs.I will note though - unless the chickens have a LARGE outdoor run, any grass/vegetation will turn to dirt as they'll eat and trample on anything green.

I screened as well as I could, they all looked good on paper, seemed nice in person, references and background checks checked out etc. but turnover was higher, living there was less fun, and a few house mates turned out to be nightmares: one started working as a paralegal and spent her days researching ways to screw me over on everything, another one started secretly growing peyote in his closet and ended up trying to stab another housemate who drank a bit too much one night and got emotional when I was out of town (they both spent some time in county jail over that incident and had to be asked nicely to GTFO) another one lived almost entirely off of expired frozen cod that he bought on sale for $1 and then microwaved it, making the house smell like nasty rotten fish for a few hours every night... barking dogs left unattended in the yard, dog fights, angry neighbors, dog poop, the peyote cult coming by and hosting drum circles into the night having bon fires in the yard, police coming by, fire department coming by... ...my future wife moved in and then we moved out pretty soon after, bought a different primary with no room mates, kicked all the crazies out and made it a normal rental rented to a family.

If that doesn't work, and you get no indication if you're even barking up the right tree, do some skip tracing just to see if there's some other contact information out there.
