The investors would be advised to pool together some capital to retain the services of an experienced securities law firm to do an analysis of whether they have cause for complain, cause for lawsuit, and reasonable chance of collection.  

That should cause a spark of interest in the matter.

What if it is your unit causing the water leak and there is mold and it's a $100,000 remediation that requires living elsewhere for 2 weeks while it is cleared. 

In the rare case of the property causing the liability you are going to be sued personally as well.

Maybe it’s cause they had it too easy.

Or it could be that the recipient inadvertently dropped the email (it happens).But if two-way communication has been established and you’ve found that the sponsor is consistently slow to respond, that would be cause for concern.  

However, this nightmare of false accusations makes me hesitant.My thoughts are: 1) Ideally, Facebook has genuine investigation resources to rectify the damage caused, and 2) I hope the Facebook group will accept your husband’s explanation.

But if the former tenant ever wants to cause an issue you will have been in the wrong.
