Scam artists prey on out of town investors and their lack of knowledge in the area. 

While I hate that people got scammed, I have to admit that most of them bear some responsibility.

A demand letter was going to cost us $2500 and we figured it wouldn’t be helpful as this guy was blatantly scamming us.

Yes the prob can force it and I think this is a money making scam by mortgage companies.
