Agree with all the people who say not to get a partner and look into professional property mngt instead or a property closer to you that you can keep an eye on.

But, the brokerages and most people who contact you from them are just trying to get you in their downline.

Use BP as a resource but realize not all responses are coming from people with same level of success.  

As a passive investor, you are really investing in the relationships you build with the people you are trusting with your investment properties. 

I would like to focus on the middle income bracket, since I believe that in Trinidad we do not have enough high quality offerings for young people/couples and middle income families in progressive neighborhoods.

But I'm sure the many people who have lost money there won't be so eager to brag about it!
