Currently I'm a 22 year old miserable Truck Driver.

Driver around all the streets and look for vacant houses.

Will anybody check up on me to make sure I actually live there or will changing the address on my drivers license be enough?

I was told to Change my address to the property, drivers license, voting registration etc. for at least a couple months & you should be ok.

We don't have millions in liquid assets yet, but we do have property in different states, have lost our umbrella due to unforeseen circumstances (too many car accidents, even though none were our fault -- drunk driver totaled my son's car, policeman hit my daughter's rear end, a driver hit our car in a parking lot and the car dealer's employee during an oil change drove a new car into 4 parked ones, ours being one of them, end of umbrella plan).

The location in my opinion is a driver here too. 

I'm guessing you have a great demand driver from airport. 

Hands on local is the absolute best and lowest risk way to learn the business and then you are in the driver's seat rather than dependent on the kindness of strangers out of state to make or break your investment and keep your best financial interests at heart.

In the Midwest we're definitely seeing evidence of this.Economics is a huge driver in why we invest in B class assets located in B/A areas with diverse employment and good schools.Further, any syndicator that's claiming 5 to 7% rent growth per year over multiple years is likely smoking something.  

The obvious, price, may not be the decision-making driver.
