Thanks for adding the info about TripAdvisor and Booking.com.I personally live in a popular tourist location, and have considered only renting my own house out for the max allowed days before taxes are required (14).This is perfect for when we go on vacation.But you are right, it is a lot of work to clean and then over your house.

My concern is that this might be at a very top level.LLC’s are a different story, where residency is important.Since you reside in CA, you will be taxed in CA on world wide income.

@Frank GrecoWhile Florida does not have a state income tax; New Jersey(which I assume is where you live) does have an income tax.As a NJ resident; you are required to report worldwide income which would include the income from rentals located in FL.Having an FL LLC or a NJ LLC that registers in Florida will not change the above scenario.The good thing is that rentals often report a tax loss as a result of depreciation; but this is something to consider when you run out of depreciation and mortgage interest which may put you in the taxable income territory.

I live in a large Amish Community in Southern Indiana with several different things to offer but just not sure if I should only promote a place for people to stay or widen the choices to include tours and actual time they (Tourists) could spend at Amish Farmsteads which would include learning all aspects of the Amish Lifestyle.

That paired with the fact that we get 13 million tourist per year makes this area the best option for vacation rentals in the country (that's my opinion) Although I must point out, if you're not willing to self manage the returns will be similar or less than a LTR.
