Unless already updated, your waste lines will most probably be a mixture of cast iron and galvanized, but clay is still a possibility, and will be at their end-of-life.  

I would simply go over the concerns with them, write them down on your tablet, and let them know you'll get back with her in a "reasonable time" to arrange to care for them.

@Elizabeth Njuguna everything in KC built before 80s and 90s was either cast iron, clay, some combination of those, or on a rare occasion Orangeburg, which they stopped using in the 40s.
