When you combine that with uncertainty in the currency markets i.e. the whole issue of the debt ceiling the problems with Greece, Spain and Portugal commodites have become a "Safe Haven" as well as their normal roles in industry and agriculture.

I'm actually in the same situation as you "sort of lol" just following the news and everything happening with Greece and the feds not raising rates for almost 6 years and on top of this talk of war and dollar losing value can make things scary to move forward.Note I'm also new so take my advice and research that's what I did anyway but from reading what you wrote your goal is passive income so honestly it really don't matter really if one thing is true you make money when you buy that is a fact.
