I think you can do a lot with furniture.I would go with a punch of color over white or gray because you already have a light colored carpet. 

we are using vinyl click tiles from HD in a light gray stone color for a kitchen that leads to a 1950s oak hardwood floor.

I think it is a gray area and people are defining asset and liability in different ways.For me, the decision to buy my primary residence, instead of renting was the best financial decision I have made so far.

Whether bond market was truly panicking (I am sure there were some of those),or the bond investors saw better yields (opportunity) to make money in the Stock Market (I am sure there were some of those also) is the gray area.
