Your Fire Dept Sounds WACKO,, The least they could have done is write up a " for outdoor use only" warning, tagged the tank and wrote it up so you could have had a copy of that for your records..

You have to supply heat, it has to be set above a certain temperature, In commercial, the landlord is not required to supply heat.

The house has a very small yard, which will not have shared usage due to outdoor projects we're working on this fall, and the fact that we have a very small puppy who has her own space in the yard (I don't want young children playing with her unsupervised and potentially being rough with her, or accidentally letting her out of her space).

Some of the things that we don't typically do that we could for relatively low cost are (keep in mind that these are houses below median price in my area - so granite counters and the like are not really necessary, but might be an option) installing fancy tile backsplashes, tile granite counter tops, under cabinet lights, recessed lighting, wainscoting/chair rails, spending more on curb appeal, outdoor living areas (large custom decks etc) and other things that can get rather expensive.I'm not wanting to spend a lot but am willing to add something extra if it will help sell houses faster.

I have a friend that does this too,  He travels to exotic places and picks up some part - time bartending job at resort hotels...gives him a lot of time for outdoor adventure, some pocket change, meets a ton of people and is having a ball.
