Often times even where utilities are separate or in a single family there are utilities that are provided by the municipality rather than a private company.

I understand the cost of having to separate meters and purchasing additional water heaters and such will be hefty.

We have seen Brampton become a popular city for duplex properties as many of them have basement with separate entrances.

I would recommend looking at each deal separately so you don't talk yourself into buying a property at numbers that don't make sense.

First off... separate the two entities. 

I would much prefer separate, maintained units.

@Tyler Condon, it isn't proper but people do make side deals where the parties exchange money separate of the closing but at the closing table.

They said they would credit for the things they didnt deliver, but took credit from the task rabbit video for items I purchased separately, never replied on the work they did not do.
