If it is listed under a business entity you can sometimes find who the owner is by looking it up on the secretary of state website.

The name we originally picked was too similar to another LLC so I ended up calling the Texas Secretary of State phone number and asking them if the new slightly edited name would work and it made it much easier.

Ohio companies typically are, but in the case of out of state LLCs the owners often neglect to register them with the Ohio Secretary of State and the companies will not be granted access to the courts until they do so.
