The deal between us is far from sealed yet, but by going in with a win-win attitude, being honest, and being willing to put in serious work instead of asking for a handout, my wife and I have hopefully positioned ourselves for a great opportunity.

Start off the conversation with the attitude of trying to make a friend by finding something you may have in common and then open your ears.

The attitude that agents are doing something wrong by representing the interests of their clients is often based upon not understanding agency and client/customer relationships.

Their attitude to selling is often adversarial rather than cooperative, and they generally over-value their property and their own expertise, which makes negotiations difficult.
