Your $950/month on property B isn’t being “thrown away”.

You're talking about the west side of Akron, which is a solid rental area and can range from C- to B; but most houses were built long before 2000 - typically in the post war boom 1940s-60s. 

@Zach RumfieldI agree with @Bill B. and @Bruce Woodruff that, financially, this is probably a no brainer and that you should run the numbers to see how it pencils out because, even though your dad already owns the property, there are likely still some upfront costs to consider.1.

They likely know other smart people and those smart people will know someone who invests in real estate (Because smart people invest in real estate… just like A=B B=C A=C)!
