Whites, Grays, and maybe add a splash of color (Example for low-beam: White walls with gray-toned color beam to compliment each other.) 

There are sprays that reduce seal wood to burn odor,,,looks rather whitish or gray in color.

I think you can do a lot with furniture.I would go with a punch of color over white or gray because you already have a light colored carpet.
